Pair AirPods Max with non-Apple devices

The AirPods Max can not only be used in combination with an iPhone, iPad, Mac or other Apple devices, but also non-Apple devices. Think of a Windows computer , Android device, game console or other devices.

The Max can simply be used as a bluetooth headset so that you can connect it to almost all devices. All you have to do is activate pairing mode and pair the AirPods Max via bluetooth.

Pair AirPods with non-Apple devices

You can also connect the AirPods to other devices that support Bluetooth via an ordinary bluetooth connection. You can also use Apple’s wireless headphones on a Windows laptop , PC, Android smartphone, car radio and more. How to pair the AirPods with these devices depends on the settings on this device, but you can start pairing mode using the steps below.

  • Open the bluetooth settings on the device
  • Remove the AirPods from the Smart Case
  • Press the noise control button until the status light flashes white

The light can be found at the bottom of the right shell. As soon as it starts flashing, release the button and pairing mode is active. You can then find the AirPods Max in the bluetooth overview on your device and you can start the pairing.

Connecting AirPods afterwards

Do you want to reconnect the AirPods to an (Apple) device at another time? Then you may first have to connect it manually via the bluetooth settings. In that case, the exchange does not take place automatically.

Not all options available

When you connect the AirPods Max to devices that are not from Apple, you will lose a number of functions. Including the transparency mode , active noise cancellation and Siri. Furthermore, the headphones work just like any other wireless headphones.
