A new concept shows what a cross between the Apple Watch and Fitbit could look like. The watch is a lot narrower than the current Apple clocks and focuses on a sporty target group.
Concept: Apple Watch Fitbit watch
The concept was created by Parker Ortolani. This graphic designer regularly gives free rein to his creativity in the form of so-called concepts. These show what an Apple service or product might look like, but are not necessarily true.
Ortolani shows this time what a cross between the Apple Watch and Fitbit can look like. This watch is aimed at a sporty target group and therefore a lot smaller than the current Apple Watches. For example, the screen is designed in height, instead of a square.
This elongated screen ensures that the wristband becomes more compact. Ortolani indicates that you can therefore wear both a ‘normal’ watch and an ‘Apple Fitbit’ on the same arm without your wrist feeling heavy.
Focus on sportsmanship
watchOS, the operating system of the Apple Watch, remains largely the same in the concept. Complications and apps are now designed in height instead of width. This way you can still see at a glance how full your activity rings are and, for example, start new workouts.
Speaking of apps, Ortolani expects the cross between an Apple Watch and Fitbit to be particularly useful for a sporty target group. For example, the designer shows how the brand new Fitness Plus app would look on the unannounced device. This sports subscription has been available on the Apple Watch since watchOS 7.2 but is not available in the Netherlands.
The Fitbit company makes fitness trackers. These wearables are packed with health functions to track your steps, for example. Some models can also measure your temperature, measure oxygen levels and improve your sleep. Last year, the company released two new fitness trackers: the Sense and Versa 3.
